Hello,
I have a hifonics saturn amplifier, amplifier is dead,I checked lm494 and there is no pwm signal. I.C has voltage. No decices are blown up in power supply or output, i'm not very familiar with this brand.any help to repair would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Post a good quality photo of the component side of the entire main board and the component side of any driver boards.

Thanks for help. I was probing around and followed AP line and noticed that it goes to connector were a card plugs to it.....well that card is missing, I'm not sure were to get that card from.
It might not be helpful but when I saw this post today, the title made me think of my Hifonics Goliath Generation X, where the similar Saturn Generation X is just the smaller version of the Goliath X. Both are 4-channel AB amps that happen to be Zed Audio made amps and I think the Saturn is about 65wX4 with a 250w figure stamped on top.
Is this a Hifonics Generation X Saturn? I ask only because you mentioned some 'card' that appears to be missing. If so it may have 1 or 2 POS (Or P.O.S.) cards that plug in via what looks like a short ISA computer slot. If yours is missing then that could cause all sorts of problems for these amps and as they were; the cards are very confusing to many.
If this is not a Generation X amp then all bets are off until you post more information. I'm with Perry - we need to know more information about what Saturn amp you are looking at to continue.

Does that amp take 1 or 2 cards? Do you have any at all? BTW they get removed because they don't clear the back of the amps on disassembly.. IE, when you remove the back cover, the POS cards always have to be taken out in order for the back cover to be able to slide off.. Here are some other notes I have on the POS cards:
1. Dont mess with the POS card!
A. Install it with the "Stereo/Brided" lettering faces twards the Gain controls and RCA inputs.
B. Make sure the edge where 95% of the pins are shorted is rising out of the amplifier's PCB and facing twards the Power/Speaker terminals
Also, take a look at this thread. Pages #4 and #5 have some photos of the card you are looking for, from a THOR X model amp. Also if you read a little bit in that thread you'll note that I was having lots of trouble with the amp powering on/off... and it was 100% due to the cards' orientation.

I still have my Goliath X with those cards installed, but its all installed in my truck at this point. I cannot pull them out to show you anything easily.
If you need to find a card, the only place I would recommend you try is on this forum, OR through the Facebook group named, "Old School Zed Audio" where loads of Zed diehards have lots and lots of goodies that are rare to find.
You could also send a message or CALL Stephen Mantz of Zed Audio, his name is MOER on this forum.
Good luck and let me know how it goes! I love these Zeds!

If you cant find a card then let me know. Honestly there is nothing but jumpers from point-to-point on those cards as there are no actually electrical components on those cards other than trace connections. I may be able to tell you the mapping unless Perry has a schematic.
Also one more note, the actual Zed Audio engineer who designed the Hifonics X amps may not have exactly been Stephen Mantz, but a fellow named Mike Nicholls who worked for Stephen, Zed Audio way back then. Mike Nicholls is on Facebook and is a member of "Old School Zed Audio". You can probably message the designer yourself if you want!
