Any cabinet suggestions for the 18 sound 18NLW9000?
Eighteen Sound 18NLW9000 - 18" Subwoofer
I have two that need a new home.
They're currently in a xoc1 style tapped horn with cone compensation made out of OSB3. They've lasted for 7+years but they're now falling apart unsurprisingly so looking to build cabs out of baltic birch ply.
I've looked at Arts Keystone Tapped Horn and the Paraflex Alt-config or Classic C.
People seem to have reservations about the light cone in these designs resulting in unwanted distortion although I haven't had this issue in the current cabs.
I was wondering what would be the ideal cab for this type of driver with high xmax, high power rating, light cone, and decent BL .... Reflex possibly?
What would you use this driver for if you had one lying around?

That asks for a big pro audio type of reflex. And with the high mms it will need some power to get real bass. I don't think it's fit for home use. I know people who build the Keystone sub for it, wich seems to work well in P.A. settings.

It does seem to be a quite suitable driver for the ROAR18 design.
With 1800 watts (stated RMS power rating) it is still power limited down to 31 Hz (single unit in 2,0 Pi radiation angle). The driver will take a lot more then this due to the symmetrical split path loading and the efficient cooling of the voice coil.

is suitable for itIf you haven't noticed unwanted distortion in the xoc1 style tapped horn, probably won't in the Keystone.Any cabinet suggestions for the 18 sound 18NLW9000?

PASC has compared the 18Sound 18NLW9600 in the XOC1 TH18 to the Keystone:

I haven't heard of any direct comparisons of the Keystone to Paraflex or ROAR 18, but would expect the slightly larger ROAR 18 would have a bit more output.
Since you have been used to the nearly 6dB output advantage of TH, bass reflex probably won't "get er done" in a large venue or outdoors.I was wondering what would be the ideal cab for this type of driver with high xmax, high power rating, light cone, and decent BL .... Reflex possibly?

That said, a smaller BR could be tuned much lower than any of the cabinet designs listed, for home use I'd choose the lower response over the SPL.
