I realize that there are underlying, sometimes unspoken norms to these message boards. I hope I am not violating one of them with this post. If I have, I apologize in advance.
I recently finished a DIY TL speaker build using two TB 1808 full range speakers and a MiniDSP into a powered SW. I am thrilled with how efficient they seem and my rebuilt Hafler DH500 seems like overkill.
Do any of you ever part with completed amplification projects? I am awestruck at the knowledge base I see here everyday....wondering if I could fund your next adventure by buying you last success. I am open to nearly any idea
Thank you for your time

Welcome to the forum, Mike. It would be best is you list your location, or at least country, what price range you have in mind and also the power range of the amps you seek. Single ended, or push-pull? Any other details would help.
A reasonable suggestion......
Thank you Pano..... I live in Lancaster County PA, I have a budget of $1K (more or less)..... beyond that , I confess nearly complete technical ignorance in amplifier technology and am unsure what I am looking for exactly. Like I said I am dumbfounded by the expertise demonstrated on these forums.
Since I built my own speakers.....I have little allegiance to name brand audio products and simply want the most "musical" system I can experience in my home within my budget.... thanks again for the welcome

Wow, those look very nice. To Mike the OP, you can rest assured that john65b is a great person to deal with.
Hey von - apparently I sold something to you? Or bought from you?
If my memory serves - the NHT Amp with ICEpower modules inside?

Yes, that was it. You bought it from me. Many years ago, but I wanted to give the new member OP a vote of confidence for you anyway.
8417 are also unreliable if driven using a high G1 source impedance. To get the high Gm, the control grid is close to the large cathode, so the grid gets hot, generates back emission, draws current, pees away the bias voltage if sourced through a high, Z, and the tube runs away and wipes out. These are so-called high perveance tubes.
A good place to start is figuring out what amps would likely pair well with your speakers. So it would be good to ask for recommendations on what amp would pair well with them. At 93dB, they are reasonably efficient. I think a TB full ranger will pair really well with most tube amps. Maybe just stay away from truly flee powered amps with 2-3W output. That is more the domain of 98dB speakers. I think you'd do well with push pull amps of 15W or more.Thank you Pano..... Are you aware of Transcendent Sound? Transcendent Sound Products
Bruce develops OTL kits. They are very easy to build and sound fantastic. Many of their crowd swear by the TB full range as a great pairing for these amps. It would give you an easy way into a self built amp. It's kind of paint by number, but you'll learn a lot and have amazing sound. The minibeast at 15W would serve you well and hovers around your pricepoint.
I just want to throw the Boyuu A10 into the mix here. It is well within budget and there are some great mods threads on here. Even if he is not confident to change things just doing the simple tube rolling and changing two capacitors has turned mine into something of beauty. Just my 2p.
