Filter Cap Question

Hello from Vancouver .... LONG time lurker, I believe this is my first post.

A few years ago I rebuilt a Sony TAN 8550 VFET power amp.

To be honest, I was never blown away.
Not enough low end grunt, given the power, size of the transformer, etc.

I recently came across some Mundorf low ESR high current filter caps and wonder if they might help the cause?

I've used their filter caps before in Luxman products, and was very happy.

My question ... can a low ESR, high current cap transfer TOO much current to the VFETs (10,000 uf) and damage them, or make them run hotter? Because they run pretty hot as it is.

Do caps in any way limit current and act as protection for the VFETs?

These transistors are unobtanium, hence the question.

Many thanks!
