Hello Everybody,
I'm looking at a pair of Lii Audio F12 fullrangers. I did a search here for Lii Audio but nothing came up. Anybody have experience with Lii and can speak to build and audio quality? Apparently they have made some inroads into the Decware and SET communities.
Based on these specs for the F12, could anybody give me some box sizes with front port size and length? Unfortunately they don't list Bl, Mms or Mmd, Le, or Vas.
Nominal impedance Z: 8Ohm
Power:40-80W
Frequency response:50-15khz
Fs: 32.8 Hz
Sd: 53.093m³
Qms: 14.629
Qes: 0.746
Qts: 0.710
Magnet:Y35(Ferrite)
Mean Sound Pressure Level: 94.8dB (2.83V/1m)
Weight: 11 KG
Package dimension: 42*36*36 cm
Paper Cone Material: Compound Pulp
Thanks a bunch!

It's being used by Decware mainly for Open Baffle applications. Qts of 0.710 is well suited for that purpose.

The Fs/Qes = 43.96. Going by generally published guidelines that is recommended for sealed or OB. Not ideal for ported. But there also seems to be a lot of divergent opinions on the matter as well.
Those are indeed ment to be used for OB, not in a ported box. And without those full parameters it's hard to sim that for you. In any way, if you put it in a box it will be large with a "one note bass" probally. So i would not try that.
I heard (and measured) the first-gen FAST10. Lovely build quality, awful sound.
Can't speak for the rest of their range, but would avoid that particular one at all costs.

Thanks for all the feedback. Sounds like I probably dodged a bullet not ordering these. I've been kind of uninspired in my listening lately, so I'm looking for a project. I'll probably get a set of Visaton BG20-8 or Mark Audio 11MS. The 11MS are still on sale for $85 for gold color, could build some pencils for them.
Without Vs we cannot suggest a box design. The high Q usually means OB, IB, or (likely) VERY big sealed box. Forget vented.

Seems like you might be starting at the wrong end of the design by trying to decide on drivers first. If you decide on what type of cabinet you want first, ported, TL, sealed, OB, etc., then the driver selection becomes a lot easier.
Well, for the past five years my drivers have been Wild Burro Betsys (EnABLed by Dave) in open baffles. I'm not getting rid of them, I love the sound. But I want to build something with a little bit more punch for when I'm in the mood.
Do you think this design with the 11MS's would give me a bit more impact than the Betsy's?

I think if you seriously wanted punch, you should go for a real woofer. A 2 way WAW/FAST design...
