Old Kit TDA1541

hello to all and Merry Christmas to the group.
I recently bought the DAC in the photo: TDA1541-v1.2.
probably at his time the topic had already been treated by the experts but I can't find the discussions.
very likely wrong how to look for it.
I found more on the TDA1541 and various kits but not on this one.
maybe it's a PCB from Jims Audio.
Thanks to all.

Hi,

We can certainly help a little to get the things better.

Such kitchen clone DACs comes with a shematic for tweaking, etc.

You can not really change the layout. But some things may be improved easily and will certainly give you a better subjective sound for the best with few monney :

The 14 DEM caps are often MKT caps : here you could drop them for MKP bought on a reliable parts seller, or best : measure if the pich is enouh for smd PET caps from Panasonic 5% 0.1 uF PPS smd caps.
true KP (non metalized cap) from Wima for the timing dem cap (the one that is often betwee 470 to 860 pico Farad)

It seems there is an oap I/V followed by a buffer. Those dac comes often with bad oaps or counterfacts parts. you can improve by choosing better cheap oaps directly on the board without the dip 8 socket to imporve oscilations issues due to the fastness of most of the ic for those purpose.

lytic caps around the oaps to be change for good one, idem for the red MKT.

hope that helps.

One of the reading you must do here is the long thread, but there are other good ones on the forum : Building the ultimate NOS DAC using TDA1541A
