Anyone with any experience with touchscreen components, please advise me... I have a Pioneer AVH-P5000DVD head unit that works fine, just the screen has some visual damage. I am unsure whether the actual LCD screen, or the touchscreen digitizer is where the damage is. The touchscreen works fine and the screen shows the picture in all areas. I can purchase the digitizer for $50, but the screen is hundreds of dollars new and I will likely not bother to repair it. I am posting some pics, so if anyone has seen this type of damage before, please advise me as to what exactly is damaged

Not sure what occurred but there is no evidence of water on the outside of the screen housing. The famous white gear failed on this unit so the screen was stuck inside most of the time and could only be pulled out manually. I was wondering if heat may have damaged the screen/digitizer from being left pulled out and exposed to direct sunlight on a daily continuous basis. I don't think the screen illuminates when it is pulled in, but if it does, then the heat from that may have damaged the display.
What I was hoping is that someone could confirm that the screen is likely not damaged, and changing the digitizer would restore the display to a clean picture.

Most of the backlights are LED and produce little heat. Does your heat up?
It's unlikely that sunlight caused it. If it could, they wouldn't recommend selling them for use in convertibles.
Why not pull the frame from the display and remove the digitizer to get a better view. If you're capable of replacing the digitizer, it shouldn't be difficult to do.
