I need others' experience here.
I have a 2018 Ford Edge and the original, single element horn said:
'Excuse me, I hate to bother you...'
I updated it to the dual element and it's fine but it says:
'I hope you realize you shouldn't be doing that.'
Where I live, a horn needs a sense of authority and I'm getting too old to play that role. ie: I don't get out of the vehicle to encourage my point of view anymore.
I want one of those funky spiral train horn things that not only fits under the hood, it also gets their attention long before they need to know 4000 lbs. of vehicle can really hurt when not careful.
The internet is full of these horns but I am uninformed. Help me out if you can. Sample audio clips seem to be scarce.
BTW: The best answer receives a 'get-out-of-diy-jail-free' card personally signed by me, if you happen to have future indiscretions. 😉

When I was a lad my mates dad was a train driver.
He got him a train horn.
He used to blow it and frighten the what not out of people.

"train horn" means air-horn.

The air horns that played tunes were very popular in the UK until they were banned and now attract a big fine.
The horns can all play at the same time but not in a tune.
I suspect so people dont get confused with police/fire/ambulance horns.

In Penrith where I used to live was a truck horn factory.
They have been given a time of day when they can test them.
You can hear them across the other side of town.

Hey Cal, I know what you mean. As a motor cycle rider I got sick of being invisible so added a 3 tube air-horn to my ride. Almost 50 years ago now. Sounded like a big truck horn and would scare the little darlings into looking around before trying to share my lane - it must work because I am still alive!
Readily available at so called auto-parts stores. The worst part was having to go inside and mix with the 4 wheel types but I washed my hands after and didn't catch anything.

Maybe notice that most of the big horns want 12V plus air pressure. Semi trucks have the air thing covered. The Ford Edge just has vacuum.
There are many 12v spiral, aka snail, 'train' horns out there. I am just looking for someone who has one and is satisfied. Something like the Caddy that Jeff posted.

If you get something that you easily can return, there’s not much at risk for trying it out. Just like speakers, best if they are big and hear’em with your own ears. In this case, with your neighbours ears 😀

How about this one Cal. https://www.princessauto.com/en/12v-117-db-dual-trumpet-air-horn-kit/product/PA0008237794
It's rated at 117db. That should be loud enough. There's a store in Langley.

I had these Hella twin tone air horns for a long time, and they had the perfect French-Italian shriek:
My Hella Lights :: Twin-Tone Air Horn
Other air horns are likely to be lower in frequency.

I do appreciate everyone’s input but...
Thank you.

Notice that the Amazon and Wolo products I posted all HAVE a compressor. In this one, the lump top-left of the photo.
Yes, you do not get Westinghouse-grade AIR from a $13 compressor and no tank. There is a part-second delay until the horn reaches full wail. In the over-$130/set class you do get better air.
I do think the snail-horns are more appropriate here.
An air-horn on a motorcycle sounds dangerous to me. I'm the other driver, I hear a Big Air Horn, I'm not sure where, I want to get out of the way.... the (usually unseen) motocycle is not the truck, I'll tuck in there.

'85 Eldo parts at Rock Auto. You'd need an expert to do Pebble Beach, but 2 or 3 high output high and low tone hooters may do your job. The ACDELCO E1905E is not something I've ever seen on a Ford.
