Many years go I was given this old Acutex cartridge. I stuck it in a drawer for use as a spare if my current cart. gave up the ghost. I currently use a Shure V15 type IV that I bought new way back in 1978. The Acutex has a nice tonality but lacks detail and upper frequency reach compared to the V15, makes it sound a bit dull in comparison. There is no model number on the cartridge only made in Japan on the top. It is fitted with a conical stylus tip. From my searches on the web it might be an early M106, but I'm not sure. I would like to get a replacement stylus in the hopes that it would improve the sound. Can anyone here provide a positive ID, and can an elliptical stylus from a M110E fit to provide more detail ? I have included some cell phone pics.
Thanks

Upon close inspection the stylus does seem very slightly curved, the picture exaggerates it quite a bit. Like I said earlier, free to me, but very old. Plays fine, but another good reason to find a replacement stylus.
I'll stick my spoon in here. There are things that I can never understand, especially when some people have the great advantage of living in a country where you have everything at your fingertips in a few days, without customs surcharges, etc.
I should have no less than 10 used cartridges that I have not reused because of broken or worn needles.
I replaced them with new cartridges as they broke down, and also with the fun / flavor of capsule-rolling, rather than tube-rolling.
How much money do you hope to save and how much time do you think you will lose to get your needle replacement? Do they have a sentimental value linked to some intimate listening with a beautiful lady far back in time?
I would buy a new cartridge and something else.
And if price is an issue, look, I had a Shure V-15 Type III, I still use (for worn vinyls) a Stanton 881 S, (very analytical and flat compared to the Shure, the basses are solid, not rubber) and currently I enjoy the Red Ortofón that replaced me under the Needle Doctor guarantee, a regrettable trade now closed. (After exchanging emails with the manufacturer) It has nothing to envy to either of the two, indeed, I consider it a technical evolution, time does not pass in vain.

I found the following which would appear to provide the ID and fit compatibility you seek. https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/3837093160...MIxJHg69aj7QIVCfhRCh1l5g8zEAQYAyABEgLSg_D_BwECan anyone here provide a positive ID, and can an elliptical stylus from a M110E fit to provide more detail ?
