I am having difficulty in understanding exactly what exact chassis the new 500mm deep baseplate goes with.
In one answer, I got dissipante 4u as an answer but then when I try to order it, the web site confused me. The baseplate option did not give that choice.
Also, is this the depth of the chassis or the width of the chassis ?
What is the largest (5U perhaps) chassis that the new 500mm baseplate can be used with and does anyone have an assembled picture of it ?

The non-Deluxe Dissipante 3U and 4U show 500mm depth available for preorder, but you are right in that the 500mm depth does not show up in the baseplate option.
There is a SEPARATE 500mm baseplate option. Does it mean we order that SEPARATELY ?
I also find the sale of a chassis without a baseplate pretty useless. Does ANYONE buy a chassis without a baseplate ?
So, I think they should ALL include the baseplate by default and make the ordering less complicated.
You buy a chassis, you get the correct baseplate AUTOMATICALLY.

Sorry for the poor communication on the website. Improving the documentation and purchasing flow is going to be a top priority once we have some more help on board. Probably early in 2021.
We added the 500mm baseplate in response to a number of people expressing their interest in a 3Ux500 and 4Ux500 chassis. I'm not sure if we've actually sold one yet since adding this option.
Regards the links to options, we were using some software to make the selection of options easy, and then several months ago they shut it down leaving us with no option but to throw in ugly links to stuff. Horrible.
To answer your question, the 500mm baseplate goes with the 3Ux500mm and 4Ux500mm Dissipante chassis. They are both now available for immediate order.
The depths are the same as the dims shown for the 400mm plus 100mm.
4Ux500 currently. A 5Ux500 could be arranged by special request, please email contact@diyaudiostore.com.

I agree wholeheartedly that simple is generally, better. And we ABSOLUTELY need to make the ordering less complicated. However adding $22 for the baseplate plus (depending on destination) ~$10-$20 shipping (they're thick steel and heavy) is not something we are going to force on everyone.
