Hypex FA123

Hi All,

I am about to order a pair of Hypex FA123 to implement DSP and drive my clone Klipsch La Scala.

I was planning to mount the plate on a wooden board, which in turn, would be fixed to the rear of the bass cabinet using spacers. I would likely put a closer at the top to stop the majority of settling dust getting to the plate, but leave it open on the sides and bottom to give adequate ventilation.

The manual shows that the unit has a mounting depth of 55mm, would I get away with using 60mm spacers or would that not be adequate to prove ventilation?

Thanks

Juhazi, 50-60C is hot for the hand, another 10C and that becomes really hot, hard to touch for few secs.
I mounted a half box (top and bottom open) to the back of my speakers with 60mm spacing between the plate and the backwall of the speaker, works fine. The plates were never hot, they more likely lukewarm.

Thanks all.

I took advice from Hypex who said that the dimensions quoted in the manual will provide adequate ventilation when mounting the unit in a box.

I plan to mount the unit horizontally to the rear panel of the HF cabinet which will give easy access and plenty of ventilation.

Yes, there are two sets of vents, vertical placement makes hot air move up and out!
