Damn, this year just gets worse and worse. Pat had his own idiosyncratic way of dealing with things (and people) but I always enjoyed my interactions with him. His Legato usb interface is an essential part of my system, and I'll keep him in my thoughts.
Got a call from John Curl a few days ago. He said that he got a call from Pats's wife and Pat from a hospital. Pat was very ill with heart trouble and facing a high risk operation. John's impression was that is didn't look like Pat was going to make it.
I enjoy reading old threads. Jocko, Fred, Charles Hansen have been a source of a lot of engineering wisdom back then. And some humour!

Sorry for this even though he felt compelled to single me out for a little two minute hate. My daughter searched my name on Google and asked me why this guy hates me and I said that's not hate it's just the guys on an audio forum.

Oh well, that's sad, just barely a month ago he posted what seems to be his last post on his own forum which he started at the time he left DiyA, his style is unmistakable. 🙂
