Shanling SCD-T200 tube SACD player

I see you had no replies in 2 years, I had the same issue and here is what I found out. It was 5 years ago and I haven't yet been able to bring myself to throw it out as unrepairable. I'll copy/paste from a chain of emails. Replies are in italics.

Hi, I have a Shanling SCD-T200, serial number 02037156, which I bought in England but it is now in Azerbaijan. It has a disc reading error – for almost all discs it does not recognise the TOC and just says “No Disc”. Does this need a new laser unit, or something else – and where/how can I get what I need?

Regarding the issue which you have, it could be the transport or the servo control or both.

Bxxxxx is correct in his diagnosis. Lasers are obtainable, servo boards are not. If the culprit is your servo board it will have to be repaired. Alternatively.... purchase a new Sony laser unit via internet and try it. You might be lucky and the problem lies solely with your transport.

The CD/laser unit seems to be a Sony KHM234 AAA and is available in Germany, I haven’t found it in the UK but it’s not a problem to buy. However, it seems more likely that the servo board is the main problem.

In anticipation of solving the NO DISC problem I contacted Parts Connection in Ontario who offer upgrades to op amps and such-like.

They advised “Unfortunately, there is no solution for the NO DISC problem…a design flaw in the servo decoding board. Wish we could help…but, the vast majority of our customers with this problem had to walk away from the unit.”. But you mentioned that this might be repairable, can you expand on that?

You are correct, the laser is a Sony KHM234 AAA. If our Service engineers cannot repair the servo board, we send it back to Shanling, which in 95% of cases are able to repair it. They charge £120 per board for the privilege. Obviously Parts Connection, not being authorized Shanling dealer/distributor, they don’t have access to this service.

But if you found a solution...I'd love to hear it!
