Babb 6x9

Way back, 20+ years ago, I bought a pair of Babb full range speakers (I think the company was winding down at the tone, and they sold a load of stock - can't remember the details). Anyhow, I never used them but still have them in boxes. I have no data for them, nor designs. I think they're designed for dashboard of boats, so presumably infinite baffle or open baffle is alright.

Anyone got experience? Or measurements?

Cheers, hopefully.

I should have specs somewhere, but check with DCGold.com They're still producing updated versions and servicing them.

Check the surrounds, they're foam and may be disintegrating. Shine a flashlight through the grill to see inside.

Dual cone spiderless design is high-Qts, worked super as IB in automobile trunks. They can work well in modest enclosures, too. They have a pretty decent reputation as full range drivers. I used quite a few way back when and loved them.

I still have a pair of 5-1/4" NIB from the 80's. I'd love to have a pair of 6x9's and 10's.

Got two damaged HDs with the complete site locked up inside, so at this late date can only note that the Lorelei's Vas was so small that a 1 ft^3 cab was nearly IB and Qt was ~0.7 with a ~25 Hz? Fs.

Seems like all the others had a similar tiny Vas, bit higher Qts with Fs around 45 - 60 Hz depending on size/shape. Since the Lorelei was the biggest, guessing the others will work fine in 1 ft^3 [or less] sealed and EQ to 'taste'.

The one time I looked at DC Gold there wasn't any specs. 🙁

Looking at it just now, except for the tiny Vas, the other specs appear quite a bit different than my dim memory, so best to measure or just use a sealed box or TL based on Fs. Don't remember there being a 10", just knew Alan was developing a woofer for HT.

The 10" was a dual cone that appeared to be built exactly like the old 694/534/414 models. Except, IIRC, the cone was blue instead of red. My brother had a set in his basement for quite a while that were NIB. He may still have them.

The only spec sheet I can find is for the little 4" 414. I may have a paper copy of the others stashed elsewhere, but that won't be unearthed anytime soon.
