Hi all,
I've been away from this forum for 10 years but I'm finally back at a point where I can play with DIY audio again 😀.
I want to build some small speakers to wall mount in my new covid home office, bass extension isn't particularly important I just want something better than the speakers in my laptop for general music listening.
From reading various threads the Alpair 5.3 looks like a good driver and it's available easily where I am in the UK. I've found the following compact designs for it:
Thanks

- Woden BloodHound http://wodendesign.com/downloads/Woden-BabyLabs-241018.pdf
- Sub compact vented desktop https://www.kjfaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Alpair-5.3-sub-compant-vented-box-metric.png
Thanks
I designed both; I have a fondness for the labyrinth so if you feel you can handle a couple of internal panels that would probably be my choice. YMMV as always of course.
On the bloodhound the vent is on the rear of the speaker so depending on your wall mounting that could be an issue.

Can't get better advice than that then! I'll give it a go.

Thanks, should be ok I'm planning to put them on extendable arms.
Code, Excellent choice to give it a go... I am guessing you will be very pleased. I have the 5.3 in FH Lite alignment and appreciate the 5.3 capability. I also have some Peerless drivers in a labyrinth, based on Scott’s Red-eye labyrinth design... I find the labyrinth to have good low-end reach for a small-ish enclosure.
There is also a uMar-Ken5.2 which is actually smaller than the Bloodhound and it is front ported and maybe a bit harder to to build. Both of these cabinet designs are excellent and I don't think you could go wrong with either choice.
