Is this typical in the swap meet forum?

I have very rarely tried to sell anything on this forum but put some items up recently.

I have had maybe 6 different people tell me they want the items, or items, but then never reply back. ???

Are there really that many flakes here? Is it that hard to just email back and say you changed your mind? I just don't get it...

Yes, that's typical. Ever try to sell a car on the old classified ads in the newspaper? Very few who called on the phone ever showed up in person. "Yes, I'll be over this afternoon." The majority are no show. And Craigslist is overun with scammers to the point of being useless.

So you place your ad and you take your chances. Patience is necessary. FWIW, I've bought and sold a number of things on the Swap Meet and had good results.

hard to understand why they expended the time and energy to pm and say they would take it if they weren't serious...weird. Maybe some sort of psychosis...

It doesn't help anything move forward referring to forum members and potential buyers as flakes or psychotic. Best to take your lumps and move on.

Selling used stuff is harder than you might first think. If the stuff is specialized, it can take a long time for it to get noticed. If it is common, it is being shopped in parallel with other sellers items, and they won't follow up with you if they buy something else or don't buy anything.

I got a funny reply to an ad recently, I wrote the key measurement of the item twice in the ad, plus the Imperial equivalent once. First question: what size?
