Recommended parts for new builders

First of all hi, pretty much an absolute beginner here.

I'm just starting to get into amplifier design, and the variety of parts is somewhat... overwhelming. I guess I could semi-blindly pick, but I thought I'd use the wealth of information on this forum to ask:

What're some decent, generic parts that you'd recommend keeping in stock and using for designs? Nothing hugely special, expensive or obsolete. Stuff like small signal transistors, some complimentary models, some output mosfets. Capacitor brands you trust or have had good results with, or other devices like voltage regulators if they're not too specific to the application.

I'm sorry for the hugely vague question, and thanks in advance!

If starting out I don't know that I would do a major bulk order to try to stock everything I could possibly need for any audio project. I would recommend starting out with a specific project and select components for that project. Stick with the major brand names and from a reputable seller would be my advice, and if you need 1 of something for a project get 10 of them....before you know it..you will be flooded with components 🙂. I typically try to search for the values I need then list by qty in stock. Because I figure there's a chance the stock would be replenished.

Very good question, but definitely agree with post #2. Stick to a BOM for the first few projects.
First decide on the vendor that you will use for most of your orders.
