Suggession Needed for Driver Placement in Line Array

Hi Friends,

I am making a Line Array with coaxial drivers. I just want suggestions on driver placement. I have attached 2 images ( placement 1 & placement 2)

With my limited knowledge i am sure many of us will agree that placement 2 is a clear "NO", but i need to know the reason behind that. I will be thankful if someone can explain me regarding this.

Regards,
Sadik

true, for the same size
but I was talking about totally different stuff

imagine that you have 5" coax with 3/4" tweeter
if you make line array of coaxes, tweeter will be spaced out 5"+ the gap between drivers
if you make line array of tweeters, you can space them out as close as possible, maybe 1"
and that makes big difference on comb filtering

What is your knowledge of directivity/dispersion in the PA domain? In other words, why do you want a line array, what are your design objectives? And how are you going to amplify and X-over things?

This is what I need to understand.

The line array is for Music Event for Big Stadiums, A Music Concert type. I will be using active crossover and individual Amplifier will be used for Highs and Mids.

"The line array is for Music Event for Big Stadiums, A Music Concert type."

This will be woefully inadequate to say the least. Consult with diyAudio member simon7000
and buy commercial product instead. A rocky road ahead, indeed.

Moreover, arrays in big spaces need computer aided sound field design. And more than a clue about sound perception. If you even haven't got any ideas about directivity, either start learning before taking any more steps or hire a consultant.
