Fostex FE108e∑

Hi all,
I thought build my first loudspeaker project using the Fostex Fe108e∑ drives, but recently I listen that the quality of Fostex fall down because it's not a genuine japan product that were in the past, I like know yours opinions and experiences with these drives and at the same time I will like to know if anyone has some projects with the Fostex Fe108 E sigma to share .
Thanks a lot in advance of your shares.
Regards,
Joaquim Bento

Tried 3 Options

Joaquim,
I built and tried 3 options 1) open baffle according to MJK 2) Back Loaded horn - don't remember the exact design 3) BiB. I ended up keeping and completing the BiB as it suited me, my music, my room and my equipment best. Depending on your choice of music it needs bass support in option 2 and 3 in my opinion.
Hope this helps... a little...
Ron

The 108 works particularly well in a manifold design of Scott Lindgren’s - Aiko. Some of the most lubricious midrange I’ve ever heard from a cone driver - particularly with SE/DHT amplification such as 2A3 / ACA - but not a bass monster.

I concur about the midrange and even higher up. Although I've never heard the 108's in that cabinet I imagine they would be amazing compared to many offerings out there.. They are a special driver indeed .. If you can cross them at whatever point seems good for your ears to offload some of the lows, and then add some woofers to take over that aspect, wow they can really rock actually.. But even still when used by themselves within their parameters, and set up properly with all the right electronics, sweet sweet sound.

Hey Dave hope you're doing well! It's kind of neat sometimes with this whole interweb thing. My 108's originally journeyed from SC USA up to me in Victoria BC. Then I moved 6000kms away pretty much in 2009 to NB Canada, where I still used my 108's until around 2017, where I then sold them to a guy all the way across the pond in Greece.. They've sure gotten around the globe lol. I imagine they would have more finesse in the Aiko for sure.. The 108 is a nice driver that doesn't get talked about much these days.. Nice to see it come up now and then.
