Myryad IM 120 integrated amp

I picked up a Myryad IM 120 integrated last week and have been going through it, as it has had some confusing issues. To start there was a stuck input button (tuner) and there was some distortion when that input was selected. I got the button unstuck with contact cleaner and deoxit, but I found that there was some distortion on some other inputs as well.

The weird thing was that it would clear up. I thought the original problem was in the selector buttons, but looking at the circuit, I see that there are relays and some small film capacitors near the rca jacks. I'm wondering now whether the problem is in the relays and capacitors. Could it be that the capacitors need to reform, if the input has not been used in a long while?

You are not the only one having trouble on -Hi-Fi Engine all of a sudden

they want to stick cookies on my browser something I block on most websites .

I know it brings in third party money but I don't like getting tracked round the web.

Hi-Fi engine is working fine for me. The "problem" is that the file is too large to attach here.

Distortion on ALL inputs is unlikely to be relays or caps. And there isn't much here.

Start with easy stuff. Are the supply voltages correct?

However if it was sold as "good working", then it may be best to take it back for negotiation.

There's a note about tightening grub screws so the buttons don't bind, which echos your "stuck input button".

Thanks for that PRR, your right about the capacitors - polypropylene not at all likely they are faulty .

No its me that's so defensive when it comes to the web as I help others elsewhere with malware etc after many years of interaction on the web and communication with US organizations on hacking methods /defensive measures / virus defensive coding / network doors blocking etc etc I operate in defense mode , I do lose some use of normal website interaction but you cant have it both ways.

Anything wears out after a while. They'd have to be tested to be sure.
I'd recommend bypassing one input's relay contacts, and then using the preamp
long enough to see if the problems seem to be gone.
