Playing sine wave into xover. Output of xover connected to scope channel 1 and input to amp. When I connected channel 2 to amp output, something fried in the xover. Why?
Is this an electronic crossover? Were both of the probe ground clips connected to ground?
Is the amplifier's output bridged, or ground referenced?

It is (or was) a DSP crossover. I connected the scope ground of channel 1 to the shield of the XLR output on the xover. I connected channel 2 ground and signal to speaker wire coming out of the amp.
The output will be bridged - you should never assume any speaker output is ground, some are, some aren't, and black/red colour code does not imply black is ground. Hopefully its just a fuse you have to replace.
