My Altec Lansing 416-8a dilemma...

I have a pair of 420a transformed to 416a with a complete recone kit just completed. I dragged these things all the way from Canada in hopes to use them here in the Philippines along with a nice pair of Emilar 800hz/EA-175 horn driver combination.
I never thought about the high humidity and what the effects would be on the paper cones of the woofers over time. I would surely hate to ruin so, it saddens me but, I’m actually considering selling them. I’m still wondering if I need to keep the tweeters or sell them too.
What would you do?

Have the cones already been changed by the humidity? I never had any trouble with mine, but I didn't take them to the P.I.

We frequently use speakers at the beach and I haven't noticed any effects on the cones. Connectors, definitely. But aren't reconed Altec.

The kit sat unopened in the original double box for over a year. I recently opened the package and have almost completed the retrofit when the thought or humidity entered my mind. The speakers are meant to live in my garage without air conditioning. I don’t know the level of humidity but I know it’s high on most days.
I have been watching dry cardboard boxes ‘wilt’ and become soft after a period of time hence my concern for the new cones.
I’ve had thoughts about applying some sort of coating to the cones but I’m sure that would affect the sound negatively.
My next thought was to sell or trade the Altec for something a bit more tropic-proof like polypropylene just to not waste the Altecs.
Do you know of a suitable substitute with great sonics and high efficiency?

Not off the top of my head. But many pro drivers have been "Tropicalized" or something like that to withstand outdoor gigs. But modern drivers just aren't built like the Altecs. I'm sure someone here will chime in with suggestions from 18 Sound, FaitalPro, BMS or the like.

And yes, all the cardboard boxes in my Florida garage go limp. 🙁

Humidity is less of a trouble for me and I live in the Southeast part of US. But heat and dry air definitely affects vintage cones. I love my Altec drivers. But if I have to, i may look into something like this 12NDL76. It's light and higly efficient (100db). I have not tried it myself. But I hear good things about the driver. Some claim that it is comes close to a JBL driver when it come to the quality. I think it runs about $200 a piece. Other option may be Kapalite series by Eminence which may be a little less efficient at 95B.
