Today I fried a tweeter in one of my Sony SS-X7 speakers. It was stupid acting with provisional connectors and my prototype amp that somehow caused extreme noise that made my tweeter die.
I don't know whether Sony will support me and sell me a new tweeter for replacement.
On the backside the tweeter reads:
SONY 1-504-664-11
H 720-6ohm
Made in Norway 24/00
Do you have an idea where to get such a tweeter?
Does anyone recognize this tweeter as a brand X model Y one?
Cone diameter is 1 inch (~25mm).
Magnet has 72mm diameter.
Inner screw mounting diameter is 50mm.
Outer mounting screw diameter is approx 94mm.
I liked the sound of the speakers very much.
Does someone know an alternative to use for the case I can't manage to find the original part?
Thanks

Black dot audio sells dome/coil assemblies for 14 different Seas 25TF tweeters. Ask Seas to help you identify the right spare part.
Can't tell if it has a rear chamber from the photo, but looks like a SEAS 25-27TFF fabric dome unit. So very similar to these 90dB units:
H0881-06 27TFFC
H0831-06 27TFF
H0881-06 27TFFC
H0831-06 27TFF
Hi Steve, Thanks, I will try to get Seas to specifically ID the model, if I have difficulties can I come back to you?
How is Pompey these days? I am a retired RN guy, now living in Lisbon and have fond memories of the city. I used to live on top of Portsdown Hill about the time they raised the Mary Rose, with one heck of a view over the Solent and IOW.

Pompey is a happening place these days, with the student pound transforming the town centre. Beach and common as great as ever. 😎
Now Ron, you have a bit of explaining to do... the detective skills of Sherlock Holmes and Inspecteur Clouseau are ingrained here in Portsmouth:
I detect a whiff of Munchausen syndrome.
I have quickly eliminated the other suspects to arrive at the H0831-06 27TFF as being the most likely suspect:
But you must explain the uncanny resemblance between this thread and an old one:
Need Help to repair my Sony SS-X7 speakers
Most peculieur... 😕

Hi Steve, did you have a job with MI5? Yes you are correct, and I do admit to cutting and pasting text from a 2010 thread. Mostly because when I chased the numbers some companies said "out of stock" so I was looking for some more recent info.
Tks

The explanation is simpler. I have been watching a boxed set of Pink Panther films during lockdown. Peter Sellers was born in Castle Road, Southsea, On my walking route to the common. It is now a Chinese restaurant with a lockdown notice on its door: "Sorry we are close." 🙂
I accept you have given the thread a beump. But the Ukrainian flag remains a further mystery,.. you do not pull the wool over the eyes of the Surete, I assure you. 😉

That thread is a good piece of work. Albeit broken links. Even has the interesting MTM circuit. Sony speakers are really very good.
Me, I'd fit the slightly better Seas 27TFFC here. I see no problems. 😎
