Hi, I read this foroum since I started in audio, but I never had something to share, but now I'd like to give my impressions and ask your advice:
I have the fortune to have a pair of Bedini on loan to listen. A 25/25 and a 45/45.
Great amplifiers, with very dynamic and accurate sound, both, but I noticed that:
- it seams that both have almost the same gain, dispect than 25 had almost the double power (to get the same volume I have to barely move the control in pre)
- it seams that the 25/25 have a more "full" sound, with great medium frequencys, very enjoyable.
- it seams that the 45/45 have more low bass and a "clean" sound at highs, but a "light" sound.
For all I read mr. Bedini says that 10/10, 25/25 and 45/45 are the same, with the only difference of power.
So my questions, if anyone have more information:
- This is normal or the 45/45 could have a problem?
- If is normal, there is some mod to make 45/45 sounds like 25/25?
(My equipment: Devore O/93, Technics sl-m1, AT OC9/III, EAR 834p with gain control, Hugo 2, EAR 534)
Thank you,

It is possible that some of the old electrolytic capacitors are dried up, which would affect the sound.
Have these amplifiers been refurbished recently?
Otherwise, the larger power supply and additional output transistors that are necessary
for higher power can cause the amplifier to sound different. Read some old reviews to see.

New data
Yesterday I made some mesurements, I saw that in the same song 45/45 goes down to 52 hz, but 25/25 never felt from 116 hz.
Could be "the full sound" just congestion?

The Audio Critic back in the day liked the 25 over the 45 so your findings are inline with many others over the years
Someone should clone the 25 one more time

Probably you are right, for that I was thinking is could be a mod to change the sound to be more similar to the little brother.
Thank you,
I just found that 45/45 have a great fall after 4K (pink noise). Could be a capacitor problem?
Thanks,
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Thanks,
Hi. An article posted here in the forum explains the influence of the negative feedback capacitor to the sound (low frequency roll off point). It is the C5 cap, which is also shown in this schematic here in the forum.
What is not clear to me - and maybe someone can answer that question - exactly that C5 electrolytic capacitor is shown on the schematics with positive side connected to ground. In the same way also the rail bypass capacitors C3 and C4 are connected both with positive side to ground. That seems to be wrong and at my Bedini 25 positive rail C3 is connected with negative side to ground, negative rail C4 is connected with positive side to ground. In the same way C5 is connected with negative side to ground. Images of Bedini 25s found in the internet seem to show both versions - sometimes C5 with positive side to ground, sometimes with negative side. I even read it would be possible to use a non polarized cap for C5. In the same way when C3 and C4 are connected with positive side to ground both, do they form in a way a kind of non polarized cap, with half of the capacitance? Looking forward to your replies here...
