I am finishing assembling the Lite Audio LS26 tube Preamp CAT SL-1 preamplifier and I needed some help in choosing the potentiometer.
At my disposal I have:
Alps Blue 50K
Alps Black Beauty 50K
any suggestions are welcome and consider replacement
At the moment given that I plan to use Alps Black Beauty, is it okay as a value?
Thanks 🙂

Yes, the Black Beauty will do fine. I have a 100K in my Dynaco PAS3, it sounds MUCH better than the stock pot. Your 50K should work as well.
The Blue doesn't have a lot of love around here, even though it works fine in many of the older ARC preamps.

The Blue is fine as long as one doesn't hit them with DC...though the Black one does seem to be better quality...it's an example of getting what you pay for.

Thanks @Zung 🙂
Thanks @Michael Bean 🙂
As soon as the tests begin and I'll let you know,
I'm going to try Tocos Cosmos too and I'm undecided on the value 🙄

I have always used Alps Blue Velvet in the past with good success. However, I just picked up my first TKD and I am seriously impressed! It is built like a tank and feels very smooth. I have not used it in circuit yet but would highly recommend. Not sure I waited so long to try one! 😛
The TKD are better pots than the Alps. The only caveat is the taper. It is an odd audio taper. What will happen is you will use more of the rotation for a given volume than with the Alps.
