Proper way to test output on Aikido line stage?

Just wondering if there is a proper way to terminate the output so to test output level with 1 volt P-P input. I'd like to compare my Aikido's for output level

Load with something like what you really want it to drive.

Decades ago there was a "standard" 10k loading. But if you have a 100k tube amp, or a 1k greedy transistor amp, do that.

I just measured my 6SN7/6SN7 Aikido 7.5volts

My 6N1p/5687 Aikido 17 volts

My 6Au6/5687 Aikido 32 volts

Load resistor 10K Reading on the RMS volt scale.

I lean towards 600R myself 🙂
I get 11 volts out for 1 volt input (with 10k loading though) using 6N14P and 6N6P. These days I mostly stick with 6N8S - 6N6P though.

Standards are such a wonderful thing, everybody has his own.

Anybody remember RS-232?
116 ways to use the connections.

my reasoning, if the aikido had a 600 ohm output resistance, then loading it with 600 ohms gives you 50% output swing....from ideal...Vin x gain

ten times 600 ohms or 6k will allow the amp to swing more...

i see the aikido amp as a Thevenin voltage source, with its output impedance as its internal resistance, so then, loading it with a resistance much much higher will give a higher output voltage...
