Hi all,
So allow me to introduce myself:
Kinda got into audiophilia by accident: my grandfather gifted a Marantz 1040 that he said was not working in the treble section. Turns out it was his hearing not being so sensitive any more.
Got myself some vintage Sony SS-7300 speakers, and then upgraded my amp to a Yamaha A-S700.
Most recently my grandfather gave me his TD124, so I spend this past weekend in lock-down reading up, opening up and cleaning it, with some mini-heart attacks along the way.
Glad to be part of the community, and enjoying learning new (old?) things.
Hope you guys stay safe.

Welcome NavTech (does the name relat eto your work?)
I have a few pieces acquired the same way, one amp was so impacted by cigarette smoke it became flaky, and the other had the plastic sleeve connecting the volume knob on the front to the shaft on the pot become disconnected.
I love it when fixes are tha easy.

Thanks.
Yeah, I used to be a military navigator, and NavTech is also a company producing pilot charts.
So one of our captains decided it's my name.
Well, my fixed weren't that easy yet.. I almost blew the motor of my TD124.
And I need to replace the bushings at some stage, but not a priority now.
But I like the fact that you can tinker with stuff and fix it up incrementally.
I think next job within reach is to recap the 1040. When I can get parts one day, with everything closed now.
