Firstly, I apologize as you would get these types of threads on a daily basis, I did do some searching but was unable to find any non Dayton/TB suggestions.
I would like to make a pair of speakers in the 0.2-0.3cu ft range and would like to be able to have an f3 in the high to mid forties.
It will be active two way with only 40W RMS at 4Ohms, I don't expect it to go stupidly loud as drivers able to play that low are usually quite inefficient.
They will only have to play up to around 1.5k and will be crossed with a 3rd order crossover.
Budget would be tops of 5-6 hundred USD for a pair of drivers, I would like to avoid Chinese made stuff if I can, like to share the wealth.
Sadly I missed the Purifi drivers in the FS section by a day, at the moment the Fostex FW168HR is at the front of the pack with the Seas Prestige Titan L16RNX3 coming in second, if Seas did a 4Ohm version I'd buy it.
Thanks for any assistance,

Have a look at some of the 5" and 6.5" drivers from SB Acoustic and ScanSpeak. For LF extension in a small box it's still hard to beat the Exodus Anarchy drivers but they are only shipping inside the US.
You may have to increase your max box size a little in order to hit your f3 target. Maybe 10-12L.

Those Wavecore speakers are out of stock here, I put some Wavecore tweeters in my boss's work car a few weeks ago and finally got to set them up active last week, not too bad for the cost. For some reason a few Wavecore items are far cheaper in Australia than the rest of the world, I got the pair of tweeters for $95AU.
I have been looking at Expolinear speakers, looks like they would go close to doing what I want to do. The TMT130K will go to 55Hz (f3) in an 8L enclosure.

I emailed to ask where the Fostex drivers were manufactured, turns out even the 168HR is made in China, pretty crazy considering that they are $650ea in Australia.

Edit: Wavecor and Exodus Anarchy are also made in PRC. So are some of the vital components for what you consider European/USA made drivers. I'd look at the performance instead of where or who made something - but that's just me.

Yeah I know what you are saying, I have some Chinese Owned/Made Milwaukee tools and the fit and finish on them is so much better than the Snap-On ratchet I bought to replace the Milwaukee.
I know China makes some great stuff but I have to work on Chinese gear for work quite a lot and it is just blatant copies of established brands. Naive Aussies are sucked in by specs, shiny paint and 5yr rent to own plans for something that won't last five years.
A Chinese dealer/manufacturer has also bought a company I regularly work for and a few others in the same field. The company they bought sold one of the most popular Japanese brands who they now undercut with their own stuff.
I have a lot of respect for China and it's government's long term plan for China's prosperity, I'm just a bit concerned that if we send all the manufacturing there that it won't be long before other countries have de skilled and China will dictate pricing and supply.
My laptop says "Made In Japan" on the bottom of it, but Fujitsu is 51% owned by Lenovo and I know pretty much everything inside it will be Chinese, Malaysian or maybe Taiwanese, but they do some manufacturing in Japan/Germany so I try to support them.
I have Dayton Speakers and they are great, at 10X the price the Fostex units seem a bit dear.
I'm tired, rabble rabble rabble, white person problems.
I swallowed my pride and ordered some 5.5" Scan-Speak Illuminators in 4Ohm, f3 at 50Hz is tolerable as long as they sound decent.
Still looking at getting the Bliesma tweeters, I just have to find out if I can get them sent to Oz without having to use crazily expensive express post.
