Anyone used the period of quarantine to really clean up their workbench

I tried, but a day later it went right back to the way it was:

Benches after my own heart.
Jackinnj, what are you hanging all your irons, probes, leads upon
in the pic? Are they just draped over a hanging pipe?

I see you put your Metro Rack to good use.
I went to the next larger size, and I use the
wheels to move around and get into storage, etc.

My only issue with cleaning things up, is
I can't find it any longer, etc or if something

drops/falls/expelled out, etc. and I can't find it
right away, I can not find the fixture/part/tool
it came from later.

I tend to push related things together so they wont get lost 🙂

If moved, I'm hosed.

I'm still missing the Pawl hold in spring for my ratchet wrench I
took apart to clean, lube reassemble. I found it once, but couldn't
find the wrench. I placed the spring in a safe place, so when I
found the wrench again, I could reassemble. When I found the
wrench again(in a zip lock) I couldn't find the spring.

I always like bench pics. Cheers,

Post Script - Short answer, NO. 🙂

Do not do it, unless you feel sick having as it is.

My mancave or hangout looks like madhouse my family says, but i like it there, i will never clean it up unless i feel the urge. in fact, i want even more stuff in, but i have not the room

Hi my NIC is Sync and here on diyaudio
I make things, measure them and break and/or burn things up.
My challenge is with organization. This is just the working
portion of my bench to the left are shelves stuffed with references,
more parts bins, and I've tried consolidating so that I will have
more empty bins to "organize" parts in them.

On the bench is the proto-board of Mikeys power supply for
Victor's oscillator, his oscillator etc.

Note the Innie, Outtie pic designations. Can anyone guess what is the
innie in the Innie and what is the outtie in the Outtie?

Please share your bench pics so I won't feel so alone.

xmo - Please post "sparkle day" pics.

Cheers,

OK, here are some sparkle day pictures. I have several work areas in my shop. In addition to these, I have woodworking and metalworking areas.

The bench where I have been doing audio work is something I built to be flexible. I wanted a work area that could be configured for various activities rather than something dedicated like my RF bench.

In the picture, the flex bench is set up for analyzing communications headsets.

Playing catch-up

Using this time to try to catch up on outstanding work! Now, at least, fewer interruptions from customers. I know they will be on my case as soon as things start to normalize.

I aim not to get the lab too messy by cleaning up every week or two weeks as a rule.

This working from home and kids stuck at home with me, meant busier than ever, simply no time for hobbies at all. And I can hardly get in my hobby room and forget being able to cross the room, sit down or find anything. It will be a days work just to enable work to be done. Stuff was already piling up outside the hobby room before the town shut down.

Thanks for the kind words, Pano.

I have always had an interest in workshops. My dad was into woodworking. He built the home we lived in. I used to read about workshops in the magazines he got like Popular Science and Popular Mechanics.

Wood magazine has featured many readers shops and they have had a series of idea shops published for inspiration. Having a woodworking shop naturally makes it easier setting up an electronics shop.

Throw in a big dose of TEA (Test Equipment Addiction) and it's easy to get carried away.
