is there any sonic differencies to other foil coils? are they worth the extra outlay? 😕

they are said to have less microphony then standard foil coils, did you test this?
i have tested som coils, mostly transformer style that had horrible microphony, i connected a coil in series with a resistor to an amp, played some music and cranked up the volume and could loudly hear the music throu the coil
the waxed paper coils is said to be harder then standard foil coils and have less microphony

I think the wax is supposed to seal the foil from oxidation.
Whether that matters I don't know.
I do like their wax coils though.
To me their a touch cleaner and smoother than air cores.
But this is just MY experiences. 🙂

In my opinion not worth the extra cost. Standard coils are varnished (Visaton does not varnish them). Capacitance on the foils should be higher in my opinion (but haven`t measured them).
