In which kinds of e-waste you can find transformers that work well for tube amps?

1st of all:

Hi everybody,
the reason I'm here ist that I set myself the objective to somehow make a tube amplifier to be mine, thats big enough for my room of 20m². Because broken ones are already too expensive the only way might be, to make one by myself so not to be here in this board would be much harder to explain. The will be quite a few questions coming up, this seems to be sure, thanks for your help in advance 🙂.

The 1st one is about sources of suitable transformers. I hope to find out about a commonly occuring electrical waste, that contains them. Is there anything coming up in your minds about this? Just perfect would be, if the ones in tube TVs would do the job. Because there are so many even just standing right next to the street in the whole city that the chances I would guess to be not that bad
to find some which fit to ones respective kind of tubes perfectly and do the job great.

So, do you have ideas or experiences on this how to get those transformers for free or almost for free?

Thank you a lot!

As said before, it's very unlikely. At least here in Germany real tube TV's are gone since several decades and are no longer popping up in the dumpsters. Besides this, our tube TV's didn't feature a power transformer. Even tube radios are becoming scarce. I've seen not more than one or two a year in the recent past.
Best regards!

In transistor/IC TV's, you are not going to find any 50/60Hz transformer.
Some tube TV's of 50 years ago had a power transformer, but they were the exception.
What they did have is a vertical deflection transformer, which can (sometimes) be used as a SE output transformer. I just posted an example in the Tubes section.

You would have more luck with an old radio set: many had a power transformer, and they all had an output transformer (not very good nor very powerful though).
The chances to find an old tube radio are much higher than for a tube TV

Old tube organ amps are the thing, if you're willing to haul off the wood case, break it up & burn it, send the keyboard and oscillator inductors to the metal yard. If you want all that done for you, you'll pay $150 for a tube amp "for parts or repair" on ebay. Usually 12 to 20 W amps. I've know one Wurlitzer 1957 in Southern Indiana that would go for $40 (which is the resale value of the bench) if the buyer would haul it all off. Somebody from Indy was asking me last week how to get rid (sell) an old 2 sound organ. Until ~1963 Wurlitzer Conn Baldwin Lowrey had 10 or 15 sound tabs, but only 2 sounds really IMHO. The reason 1957 B/C Hammonds still draw $500-$3000, 100 or more real sounds.
