My x150 just recently has seemed to have an appearance of hiss I can here over my speakers that I have never noticed before.
It is not dependent upon the volume control of the preamplifier.
What is a usual culprit in these types of situations?
The hiss is audible from at least three feet away.
Any comments or advice are welcome.

Probably just needs a new set of power supply capacitors. If you leave the old ones in place, they will eventually sound like aluminum foil being crumpled.
Both channels?
How about with different preamp or with inputs shorted to ground?

I have taken the preamplifier out of the equation.
Sensitivity of my speakers is 92db.
It does occur on both channels.
