Dumpster Diving

I went dumpster diving last week and found a pair of huge LED lighting heatsinks that I managed to fabricate into a decent amplifier assembly.

Now, what am I going to do with them ?

I've got an Aleph 4 which is brilliant. I have heard that the Aleph X and Aleph J are worth listening to.

This case should be quite good for a good Class A amplifier.

The Aleph J would certainly be worth listening to. Either with NOS Toshiba JFets or the newer Linear Systems ones from the store. Since the store is out of matched IRFP240s, you could try single IRFP150s, or my prefered FQH4410s in their place. Crank the bias to 1.8A to 2 Amps, or until your 300VA transformer starts to sag. You have plenty of cooling capacity with the fan. Better if you could go dual-mono. 😉

An alternative might be the F6. It has a different sonic signature than the Aleph J. Just need to keep the Jensen signal transformers at the opposite end from the power transformer.

Reminds me of school in the 1960's where one of my mates was into radio.
We used to get permssion to leave school at lunchtimes and go dumpster diving outside local radio and TV shops. He used to hide the stuff he got and picked it up after school on the way home.
