I have a powered mixer that hits overload protection mode way too early. It’ll peak and hit it at a regular talking volume. Rather than cut out though it majorly distorts and lowers the sound. Any idea how to fix it? I’m on a strict budget. I do have soldering skills etc.
Cheers!

Check first if there is DC on the outputs, that tells You if You have a blown amp or incorrect rail voltages. Then proceed to the overload circuit troubleshooting.
I'm wondering if there's a short somewhere on the output and it's going into over-current limiting.

but until we hear more from the OP it's just us guessing...?
