I think I bought some transistors that are not what they are marked. I bought a bunch of MSC branded 2N6488's. I suspect that they may be remarked TIP41C's. The specs are different and these '88's seem to act differently than other Motorola '88's. How can I tell what they truly are?
I was given them by a friend who didn't end up using them. The die sizes are the same as the Motorola's.
I'd just toss them. The 6488s from a reputable distributor are inexpensive. Using an unknown component isn't worth the risk. Their failure will cost in time and money and could result in more damage than there is now.
Yea. I've already placed an order for more genuine ones from Digikey. These are the only questionable parts I have got so far and fortunately didn't pay anything for them.
