Neutrik A1 analyzer repair project

Hi all

I have a Neutrik A1 audio analyzer up on ebay. The PSU is dead (torroidal trafo need to be replaced) but apart from that it is in very nice condition. It could be a nice repair project for the long winter evenings. Sadly I don't have the time for it, so I'm letting it go.

It comes with a full service and calibration manual as a pdf.

Hi.. nice unit, would you consider swapping with a delta elektronika sm6020 power supply, fully operational and fine condition? I'm from dk too.
Thomas.
Am a little worried though that other parts are damaged.

If you disconnect the transformer secondaries from the rest of the circuit, just leave mains, does it still get hot?
Or just remove all fuses, does it then still get hot?

Is the service manual available for us to take a look at?

Jan

I haven't really had pluged in since it died on me because the mains shorted. At the time I had gotten other test gear so I decided to let it go on Ebay over a year ago, but I haven't had the time to do it until now.
However, as I recall it, the trafo actually died while the unit was powered off, indicating that the primary side of the trafo somehow had a short. Since the primary windings of the trafo are connected directly to the voltage selector and before the mains switch (!), the designers have decided not to ad a primary fuse (since the current rating would differ from region to region, I guess)... which explains how this could happen :skull:

I just had a look in the service manual (which I have on a pdf, I got it just yesterday): The PSU looks very basic. The analyzer needs +/- 15V for the analyzerboard, +/- 15V for the generator and 5V for the logicboard. All regulated by simple chips such as LM7815/7915 for the 15V rails. So if proves difficult to fin a replacement trafo, it should be possible to add an external supply (or three).

Since it is up for sale on Ebay, I don't want to desolder any wires or fiddle any more with it. I'm selling it "for parts", but I feel more and more certain that It can be brought back to life and be working just fine again.

Hi Thomas

Sorry, I cannot swap since it's already up for auction on Ebay (ending soon.) But thanks for the offer (it's a nice PSU for sure).

I'm pretty sure that the boards are fine since I didn't see any blown fuses on the secondary side of the transformer, as I recall it. Will double check later.

Hi all,

I just double checked: The fuses F101, F101, F103 and F104 coming off the secondary are NOT blown, supporting my thesis that the fault is caused by a short in the primary solely. So, as mentioned before, it may VERY likely just be a matter of fixing the PSU or adding an external PSU to get this little beauty up and runing again.

Hi there!
Recently I've got a Neutric A1 audio analyzer with the some problems. First of all there is no signal on the generator output. I think some voltage was put into the output. The measurment functions at first look works fine. So I am searching for service manual. Does anyone could help me?
Thanks!
