Gallo Nucleus Solo driver replacement?

I have a pair of old Gallo Nucleus Solo speakers and one of the original Dynaudio woofers is going out (intermittent open). I just can't throw these speakers out -- must save! I am looking for ideas on a midbass driver that I can use as a replacement in the spherical enclosure (roughly 0.35 ft^3 with a 5" x 1.5" port). I'm thinking I will handle driver blending actively with one of the miniDSP units. Any suggestions appreciated!

I have a pair of these as well and was wondering if any of the purifi drivers would work as a replacement for the dynaudio driver....

This one looks close I think: PTT6.5X04-NAA-08

Sorry, didn't notice how old this post was!

This is Zartan, the original poster. If you ever find information on a replacement driver (outside of diyAudio) please post again. I am no longer using my solos, but have not gotten rid of them either.

By chance, do you have the driver parameters for the original Dynaudio speakers?

Thank you.

The Dynaudio Woofer was not stock, the outer metal mounting ring was bent back in a machined metal mold at the Gallo factory. Also, there is a thick piece of vinyl applied to the inside of the dustcover, it was initially applied to the exterior on very early models, as seen on the cover of this early brochure...

It's nice to see somebody else's picture of their Gallo Nucleus Solos. I bought a pair after visiting the original Brooklyn, NY factory back in 1997 and they've been with me ever since. I did once lose a pair of the "stand mount" collars (when moving from one house to another). I tried to fabricate them myself but they weren't exactly correct. Then I checked with Ron Bauman at Insound Audio and he actually had a pair of them available. They've done modifications to the Gallo aluminum spheres so (just guessing) they might have some advice about how to take a stock Dynaudio driver and make it work as a replacement.

Here you can see some of what they've done: https://www.omegamikro.com/customer-systems.html

My Gallos are currently being driven by a tiny little Virtue Audio tripath amp (with a beefy external power source). And I've always loved that these speakers are totally cat-proof (not sure our cat likes that though).

Beautiful!

I'd actually bought mine when the factory was in the basement of Anthony's apartment in Brooklyn, before they had a real factory space. Later I went to the factory space to get Aluminum Reference II speakers, and the Micros were being developed. I'd sold the Reference II speakers to fund the purchase of some Reference 3.1 speakers, which I then worked on with Anthony to upgrade to 3.5 status. Sadly I've lost touch with him again...

Wow - you were "pre-factory" ! I do wonder what Anthony is doing now - I've had some correspondence with the Gallo people in Ireland but I don't know if he's involved with the company at all at this point. When I use my little amp and my really nice little DAP as a source I like to tell people that I have a full-range two-channel system that takes up a total of about 1.25 cubic feet. Nobody believes it.

And - what a great view of the driver un-mounted ; thanks !
