I just love that song. One of my favorite. I think that good music can help you to study or to work better. When I writing my articles, as I am freelance writer at Samedaypapers, I always listen to jazz or classic music.
On Green Dolphin Street - Eric DolphyI always listen to jazz or classic music.

The song which best complies with the thread title must be 'Alfie'.
This was a major hit in the UK for Cilla Black in 1966 - I know cos I was there!
"What's it all about, Alfie?" is the memorable line in the song.

Is there a specific IT in this list.
It's not information technology, that much I know
Well then,
Start by admitting from cradle to tomb
Isn't that long a stay
Life is a cabaret, old chum
It's only a cabaret

'How Is It (We Are Here)' by the Moody Blues.
"How is it we are here, on this path we walk,
In this world of pointless fear, filled with empty talk."

Ahh, but to those of us who prefer valves:[VK9VK] With great power comes great current squared times resistance.
"With great power comes great voltage" — (or "great E²/R"; there's hardly ever much current)

Maybe a track from 'Transformer' would be current!
Perhaps 'Perfect Day' suggests what life should be about.
Great track! (as is Jackson's "The Road", too — gotta love the "phone calls long distance to tell you how you've been" line). But, "Perfect Day" and "Satellite of Love" are (IMHO) the highlights of Transformer.
I'm surprised you didn't make the obvious choice: AC/DC's High Voltage — especially as (being from 1976) it's not much "current" (but then, neither are the others either).
Although, if you ask me, the song (or piece) that best describes "What it's all about" is John Cage's "4:33"

Following on from 'Free Your Mind And Your *** Will Follow', how about 'The Donkey' by Billy Connolly?
Who's the donkey in that song? Last year I spent 6 months on a factory floor and was laid off, one minute I was working, 5 minutes later I was escorted out and was walking home, they gave me notice but I didn't have to work it, that was their policy because they were afraid of the workforce. I was so glad not to be their donkey anymore, saved almost all my wages while I was there, I met guys who were working full time, they didn't need the money (the younger ones did of course to pay the rent) but they were full time jobs so they had become wage slaves, they had more than enough money but no time.
