I found an article from Chris Templer at TNT about a modified horn cabinet. I have a pair of 12" Goodmans Axiom 201, so I started to plan for this project with my friend and carpenter Ulf. The horn is made out of 32mm MDF with oak veneer that is white washed. The lip at the bottom help the horn to couple to the floor and increase the bass . I will get som lower castors to bring the cabinet down a few centimeters. No filter needed as the sound is great in my ears and a 10m double folded bass horn, Audax 15" is helping out in the lowest low. I run this on my vintage Sony TA-2000F and TA-3200F but planning for a tube amplifier soon.

Awesome! No such thing as a too rigid, massive horn cab, just a point of diminishing returns.

Never heard of a Coral Beta 12 & the one in the pic surely isn’t a
Beta.

Well it is the horn cabinet of a Coral Beta but mofied. The plan is the same and the hight is 200mm extended at the bottom. The lip is extra as well!

Hi Gigas
I'm also interested in the realization of that TNT project, I saw the photos of your construction on flickr, congratulations ... what results did you get?
I thought I would change some things in my construction (for example: 25mm birch plywood instead of 32mm MDF), but I'm interested to know your opinion on this modified Coral project: how does it sound with the Goodmans axiom 210?
I am looking for a speaker that disappears while playing and leaves only the 3d scene, currently I do not have exactly this situation: what was your result? how low are they? is it really a balanced and linear sound what you get? Did you need an additional tweeter?
I would also have other questions to ask, but I don't want to take advantage of your availability ... for now I cordially greet you.
