I have some of the magazines, and have always enjoyed looking at the photographs, graphs and schematics. I wish Japanese was not so hard to translate, the few times I have attempted machine translation I got largely gibberish in return.
Fun stuff to look at, and leaves you wondering why they are able to support such a magazine in Japan and no longer in the West, the cultural/educational divide in many ways is larger than we perhaps appreciate. Audio hobby magazines of this quality have not existed here in the U.S. since the about the late 1960s. (Audio Amateur and its successors, along with VTV and Sound Practices were maybe the last vestiges, but were tiny in comparison.)

In the 70's ,80's and 90's France have L'Audiophile DiY magazine:

Best regards

845 spud?
whole thing gain too low to use ..?
Yes you are right.
Schematic only are very " Spud " style with his R input and his dedicated psu.
Second one is the driver stage with cool switch feature if you want try different tubes . Thanks for correction !
My question : could we build 845 , 211 SET output stage like this but on place of next tube
gain stage use autoformer passive gain stage ?
Challenge is to use only one triode without other active gain components.
Something " Spudish " like but not pure Potato amp.
Anyway bear with me 😀

On some rare of the above schematics we don't have all components parameters.
Happyly with component reference on the web we can find all informations.
Just say if you need available equivalent from your local USA or Europe distributors.
Example PMC-518H show is 5H, 180 mA, DCR93 Ohm
Nice 🙂

been thinking about phono pre, with jfet followers driven with step ups (transformer only gain)😱
but 845/211, mind the tube miller C, that will load too much the stepups. (strong treble roll off)
(turns ratio= ^2 impedance ratio 🙁)
you will need to add fet follower in front of tube grids -- that maybe will decrease this problem
Few DIY articles are for advanced builders and with exotic tubes and transformers
for example this sensei Sakuma Susumu preamplifier
http://www43.tok2.com/home/temasumo/article/2003/MJ0301_(08)CX350pp-pre-main-amp_SakumaS.pdf
but many of the presented projects use wildly available components.
Few my second hand bulky paper old magazines are from 1974 !
Now we can read them on Kindle tablets and be busy and inspired
with digital versions of diy audio vacuum tube knowledge work preservation.
Thanks again to OLD RADIO BOY from Japan
