Where can you find nice attractive backlit meters for our projects. Not Simpson White background black lettering. Not finding a source.
You may find something you like from Sifam Tinsley. I contacted them a while back and they were willing to sell small orders directly. At least models that weren't carried by normal distributors but maybe the full range. Digikey carries some of their gear
When I wanted some modicum of accuracy I bought from RAM Meters. I do not see anything except white faces though. For a classic look, I searched on EBAY until I found a pair of vintage meters. For My last build I bought those cheap meters from Ebay and added the LEDs - not loving them but adequate I guess.

I've thought about getting some of the large "McIntosh" style meters from AliExpress and buying some of the following to use as a backlight. Could be striking I think?

Those round meters are 50 cents each here.
Look for 0-10V log scale meters, they work same as VU meters.
Use moving iron type if accuracy not needed, more rugged.
And you can color print on adhesive paper to get a custom dial look, stick it over the existing dial.

Not with dial but with led, but the best one can find:

rtw meters not available.
KISS....Keep It Simple, Stupid! principle here, a simple solution is getting complex.
A software base meter on the display of source (computer, laptop, cellphone, tablet etc.) can be used. Apps should be available.
Peppy meter total cost should have been indicated, though screens in small sizes are getting very cheap if they are not industrial grade.
The purpose is simply dancing needles (eye candy) or something more functional?
See sites for industrial grade meters, and change the dials, it is simple to open, and fun.
Alternate is to find old amp with working meters, use new innards, you will get a retro case as well.
Check out Chinese sites as well, there were sellers selling retro meters for tube amp builders.
Those sites are not accesible from India, and the quality of the meters is unknown.

The ultimate would be props from Forbidden Planet: https://bid.juliensauctions.com/lot...lanet-Krell-Laboratory-Power-Gauge-Panel-Prop
You might have to scavenge an Onkyo or Denon chassis for the look you want. I expect you want dark dials?
I thought the Carver meters looked fantastic, but that styling dominated and didn't really play along with other brands.
I have these older rebranded Honeywell meters saved for a monobloc project, but the styling of the chassis will need to match.

Those are beautiful.... Loving that ON/OFF switch with the red guard on it. Fantastic paint job.
Meters, switches, knobs, Bakelite, crinkle paint, tubes, transformers, cables, wires...
I believe The Enemies Of Earth used equipment like that to communicate with Ming Of Mars.
They got these on eBay

Thank you for the brand and way of painting (post 7 and 17) - this is probably not available in Europe.
Nice stack @Andersonix What is the Turntable on top?
You just need an audio timer to make that fully complete. Power up the Tuner and Tape Deck, looks like you have room.
