Omni-directional-ish Speakers?

Hi, are there any speaker designs that project sound 360 degrees around, in phase, but more forward than to the sides and back?

Closest thing I can find are the Fulcrum Audio subcardioid speakers: Passive Cardioid Technology™ | Fulcrum Acoustic

But they're PA speakers :/

There have been so many loudspeaker designs over the years...I don't know where to start looking!

Actually, they are near-cardioid only at low frequencies below 200 Hz.

I think the question is not clear. What dispersion are you looking for?

Kii, Amphion and Dutch & Dutch are closer to 90-150 degrees than 360 degrees at mid to high frequencies. That is even narrower than cardioid. This is not bad on itself, but it does not classify as 'omnipole'.

Whoa! They have the cheek to call their speakers 'game changing' when this has been done by ME Geithain for just over 20 years.

To my understanding, an omni directional speaker is a sound source that radiates uniform in all directions, not just in the horizontal plane.

So, the Duevels speakers, however probebly excelent speakers in there own right, are not likely to be treuly omni directional speakers.

Agreed, but systems based on regular polyhedrons can, at least in principle.

Then you're limited to something like a dodecahedron suspended from the ceiling by a cable to emulate a radiating sphere in freespace. Why so specific ?

Simple, the performance of the tetrahedron I posted a link to earlier in this thread is easy to predict, it does not need extensively testing, is easy to build and is relatively cheap. By the way, it does not hang on the ceiling.
