On the home screen, where it shows recent activity, I miss the forum that the post is from standing out more in the list of posts.
Before I could skim the forum column in the listing really quickly for the forums that interest me and then see if the post topic was interesting. Now it is the smallest font on the page and skimming each subject doesn't make it the quick "I wonder if something new and interesting is on there" glance.
I realize I can go to each forum and see what is new there but this was more of a "I have 30 seconds to kill, lets see what is new" thing.

It will take some getting used to. My wife would be pissed off, she would think I changed something.
What happened to TubeLab? For me, TubeLab is the epitome of DIY.
Overall- DIY Audio has become like Audiogon. But- I won't go back to audio karma...

Is there some way to set font size on the first/open/"community" page to half, so twice as much content fits in at first sight?
At least to "somewhat" approach data available on the old version.
Or some other tweak/mode/option to approach that?
Already using the Classic theme, but not enough.
Thanks.
PS: I have been making a small list of reactions to new format, and the field is CLEARLY split in two:

- Phone/casual users LOVE it.
- Pro/Tech/"serious" users ... not that much (and I´m being very polite here)
You mean that the grumpy old men don't like it? Is that a surprise? Sure, it will need some tweaking, but the old forum had over 20 years of tweaks.
The new software has many things in it that work much better than the old software, have a look around and try different features and settings.

From a quick skim, I'd say that's probably a good indication thus far. I'm not complaining (much) since it had to be done & I assume the new software is likely to remain viable for years to come & be relatively easy to keep secure. But the point about the font size is a good one & it does look like the visuals are predicated toward mobile rather than traditional / 'conventional' use, which is fine for the former, but not so good otherwise -certainly not for me, as I'm finding it difficult to read. Hopefully there will be other options that can be activated to allow users a few more graphical adjustments in the future (I appreciate it's early days).
Click on it. You get Profile, with larger picture. Click on that. In just a few clicks I was seeing a big image.option to view the original avatar picture in full size by clicking on it.
Maybe I've has time to tweak my settings, but I don't see much difference in readability. Is it a font size setting that is causing the difficulty?

They did ask for feedback; just because people are responding to that request doesn't mean they are grumpy or complaining. I'm assuming they weren't hoping just to get "it is so amazing" as replies.
Sure some things are much better. The old forum wasn't mobile friendly so that is a huge improvement and should provide a massive increase in traffic. I like the overall look, feel and speed of the forum better but as a quick glance to see what is going on, the recent posts listing is much less useful for me now. I end up reading subjects that look interesting until I see it is in a forum for an amp type that I'm not interested in. Before I'd see that first. Is it the end of the world? No. Does it make it a lot less likely that when I have a moment to kill I'd hit the site to see if anything new is interesting? Yes. Do I think many other people think the same way or even used the site the same way? No idea, that's why I threw it out there.
None of us know what can or can't be tweaked in the system so we are just throwing out things that would make it more useful to us.
It took a little adjustment to get ued to it but It's all looking very good right now. Nice job!
Oh for sure, I just call "grumpy" the members who jump on saying how awful it is without actually trying any of the settings or even asking where they might be. It's like a default "It's new - hate it" mode. 😛 But we expected that. For sure there will be many tweaks and improvements, not everything is ready and we need to know what you think could be better. But hating it without even using it is silly.
Re the visuals, I think what's catching me is the disparity between the multiple font sizings. For example, you look at the head of a thread like this. Across the top (I'm in classic mode) you've got the 3 menu options. Below that, different colour, different font size, you've got the section of the site. Then in very large bold font, the thread title, the number of pages below that, and then, in a different font size yet again, we're into the posts. I find it visually difficult to cope with these shifts in size -don't know why, it just seems to clash (for me, not pretending it's universal).
Same for the home page. You've got down the left the most recent threads in huge bold type, then off to the right, pulling you're eyes across, you have replies, posters etc. in much smaller. I just find these jumps distracting; it makes it rather difficult to key into. I'm not trying to be negative here, as there's obviously a lot of up-sides; but in the spirit of constructive critique, is there any way the titles could have the font size dropped maybe one or two points so it blends a bit better? I know as-is, it helps it stand out, but for me it's a little overblown.

Liking the dark theme - helps prevent eye burn and lowers power use by the monitors and mobile phones 🙂
+1How about having the page numbers on the right side of screen?

New site looks great. I do miss the old retro layout but I think I'm now a grumpy old man at 35 who hates change.
What I would ask for is a latest post by function.
I keep clicking on threads thinking Nelson Pass has commented only to discover he merely started the thread.

The current front page needs lots of work. ATM it looks like an alien invaderI always liked the old compact and efficient layout and navigation of the front page
