Sabaj A20a modification... worth the effort?

I have to say the build quality of the cheaper Aiyima is definitely better than the Sabaj. With both of my Sabaj the dials were so wobbly I thought the first one was broken when I received it!

The Sabaj amps sounded great if I ignored the background noise, but that was impossible to do when no sound was playing. I'm sure if you get a good sample they're amazing amps, but alas the QC just doesn't seem to be there.

Your Sabaj A20a must be defective. I have 3 TPA3251 and 55. And the Sabaj is far ahead.

Check your electrical installation. ok the 04 doesn't make any noise ... that doesn't mean anything.

lost eden- I too use the A04 for a desktop amplifier. I am powering two relatively huge Focal speakers w/ cabinets by Zalytron. They weigh 60 pounds, have a 7" kevlar DVC woofer, and 1" titanium tweeter and are very sensitive. I can only turn the amp up a quarter of the way, and that's if I want it loud. BTW, I replaced the opamps with OPA1656 and the sound is markedly better.

Hi amigos,

Seems that Topping is in the process of making a new amp, measurements seem awesome ! To follow...
This year will be promising and the competition tough)

Got the first picture of the new Allo TPA3255 ) seems promising, fully balanced + inputs and gain selector ) Looking forward to test

Topping VS Next Allo TPA3255 ! It will hurt )

Hello Daniboun, till 5w, you don't hear/think that the Merus is a better class D chip/tec than TPAxxxx ?

True, for me just speaking about sound "signature" : The Merus sounds more like an AB amp than the TPA325X. This is probably the reason why SPEC is using Infineon chips in their super high end amps.

I really love the TPA325X and TAS325X chips, I own both and lots of other.
But I enjoy listening more with Merus chips. I am looking forward to get the measurements of the Sabaj A20A although I'm not sure it has better measurements than a Jlester or other top end TPA325X modules.

Right now I'm focused on an amp that only few people know and it particularly "touched" me. This is the Satisfaction A2 that you only find in Germany. The amp is a dual Mono one with some venerable Tripath chips. It is very warm and I do appreciate the fact it is full balanced with 4 updatable OP amps in DIP 8 socket, this makes this amp super flexible with a huge possibility in the modulation of the tone. It is also powerfull 240W / 4R and 150W / 8R with a quad motorized volume knob. It is very very warm, ultra silent and somewhere close to a class A in timbers rendering.

I am not surprised: I still own a Trends TA-10.1 Michael Mardis v3. I liked the Tripath chip because of its "straight/open" class A type rendering.
It sounds more 'real' than my FDA and the class D i tried (but less detailed, fluid, and has harshness in high medium + treble).

Mhhhhh.......to me "more real" and "has harshness in high medium and treble" sounds actually like a contradiction....😉

Don't get angry ... I'm just trying to understand your misfortunes with this Sabaj ....
Indicate the source, the dac and more ....

I'm not angry, just slightly surprised how reluctant some in this thread are to believe that my Sabaj were simply defective. As I said before, both of mine had their issues even with no source connected, so the source/DAC were nothing to do with it.

Another thing, in the photo we see the steel rods of the entrances protruding from the pcb above.

I thought to cut them, then isolate that part which is close to the AC input. Very big mistake on Sabaj's part.
