Geothermal energy is mostly from nuclear decay as is our entire supply of helium. When gone too bad.
Given the size of the energy sink geotermal is tapping into any affects we make will be negligable.

The solution is simple and inexpensive. Ear buds and your phone. No need to build anything..
I've always wondered if environmentalists support "herd immunity" or "culling the herd"? Is there some herd of size that environmentalists can agree upon or aspire too? Are we there now according to them?
My carbon footprint "needs" seem greater than earbuds. Though presented with a choice between being culled or immunized on the basis of my sound reproduction mechanism there must be some earbuds that I can live with. And what about my Hummer? Is that on the block too?

I tend to prefer EFFICIENT speakers, but they take a lot of gasoline to drive around. The saving grace for the planet is that I don’t do it very often and won’t start again till well past-pandemic.

I hear you. I've been worried about my carbon foot print so all I've been doing with my Hummer is pushing it back and forth to the corner store.
I ride a bicycle most of the time. Hell, I drive once a week or less. Wife uses the rig to move horses or hay more often than I do speakers or building materials.
When we get to the new place it *will* have solar power. Not worth the effort and expense at a place I’m leaving soon and taxes on the place are already higher than my mortgage *was*. Don’t want any excuse for them to raise it even more.

I actually don't own a Hummer, or a bike. I do my part by neglecting my treadmill in favour of powering my audio gear. Does this count?
I also like high efficiency speakers, Tannoy's, etc., Those that can be powered by a walkman or a low power transistor or tube amp. Leave the class A inside devices that have highly limited load requirements, hence are low power.

When they have horses, they do NOT complain about the speakers. There is no way anyone legitimately can. About the space, or the money. I’m a cheapskate by habit so I do have my own limits as to what gets spent (ie, not just spending 200 grand on whatever suits my fancy).

Nelson, I seem to recall you mentioning that when folks complained about class A and energy wastage, you told them you drive down to the post office one day less a week to make your class A listening addiction energy neutral 🙂

Unluckilly one day we should have to talk about egging less kids as well as there are a global mismatch between consumption and to a point too many people for our (to all) western -aka as modern way for all that can afford- way of life. So too much children everywhere whatever we come from as we are any animals, cows and so on... As the only species that transform faster his environment that he evolves nowadays, I'm sure we are all lazy men here !
Of course you're a monster saying that but that's the logic in a limited wolrd where nobody can, want, to evolve...
I hate to say that, but when some are choosing between class A and class D, some others unluckilly in a known limited world that is not exotic anymore may walk kilometers to boil there water or some others look for dry home !😱

1974, at the age of 22 I decided that I have had enough of Switzerland, and that I ought to see the World, as I also had an offer to see Japan and might get some job over there. This never happened, because after 3 months in Japan, I found out that this was not the place to live for me..
I moved back to Thailand, and there I found, the life which seemed for me to be best at that time to have.

I send a Thai boy to Market to buy a chicken, which we would make for dinner... it took him one way about 20 km to go to the marked, Chicken was priced that time at 20, and I gave him TIP 20 Baht for the Way forth and back, just to have something to compare, for you guys,,
20Baht. equaled then a half US$.
But each of these houses the Thais lived in, up country close to Burmese Border, 900KM from Fancy with light over lighted Bangkok, which was a very poor part of northern Thailand that time, owned a TV. Even the Electricity was most times out, but every house owned a TV.--
The same in Middle East or Africa, and many Places on the World, it is still like that till today. BUT THIS IS NOT OUR FAULT.!
I feel no Guilt to own a CLASS A or several CLASS A Amps. Anyone who is without fault can trow the first STONE AT ME..
But, I remember right that some named People showed their Sun Collectors on the Roof, just state where all the actually Power comes from, to maintain and enjoy the listening to their CLASS A.
I for one do not have Sun Collectors on the roof, but using since a while a Auto Power Save Circuit all Time, which reduced POWER USE of TWO THIRDS for my Amplifiers.
Now I ask all these who still complaining about using to much Power for Class A, What have you done until now to Cut your own POWER USAGE instead of Talking.?
So, you want to tell me that the class D isn't using electricity, as long it is using electricity you are in the same boat. When you do NOT use ANY ELECTRICITY besides what you need to maintain the daily life, then OK your comment is welcome..
Every Electricity used for any other things than THE NEED OF DAILY LIFE is WASTE.

Amps are not the culprit... fridges, air cooler, electric radiator else than class A amps, electric vehicle, neons and shops at night, too much goods consumption, are.
Because industries are the main power demander.
I'm ok with you, we can live with less as a part is wasted for non essential things. I don't putt in the same train my personal enjoyment and for illustration the power needed for a surgery room.
From an historical perspective I'm not sure we are more or less happy than before having all of that. The big car truck is not mandatory and quite ridiculous today if you ask me, like "I'm a fool" stamp !
It's about to try to do better. My simple fridge is a very low elec consumption as my washingf machine is. plates and forks are hand washed and I have the luck to live in an area where no cooling system is mandatory yet. collective bloc heating is made by the town with wastes that the town trties with more or less sucess to filter to avoid air pollution. But the efficiency there is certainly a disaster.
Despite the laws I see too much here real estate constructions not respecting the rules about south orientation for the main rooms and less windows top the North. Monney and lack of space in town corrupts the maires and the builders of big buildings, the area and monney are dictating the result. So I can say Class A is not a serious problem...

* energy for transport - check.
* energy for production of goods then transported - check.
* energy for staff said in production/commercial site with aircon, lighting etc - check.
The number of people that actually use class A? very few. The number of people that use class A that causes current spikes and harmonics on the mains network - a very small portion of that few.
Production, transport, operation and disposal of all the other classes of amplification probably outweigh class A by orders of magnitude.
