Help! I bought some fake lm4780 chips on aliexpress since I cannot find a US supplier. Can someone help me source a chip? I broke the IC on my hybrid amplifier (8 years of service) and cannot find a replacement.
mount anyway the "fake" in your amplifier and try it. If it works, the job is done and your IC was not fake. There is not proof that your lm4780 chips is fake.

Well here's the thing, I ran a continuity check and tested -v lines as well as positive pins according to the lm4780 datasheet and it does not match at all. The first and second row pins are inverted according to the data sheet. See attached picture.

Post a picture of that chip plz.
Here's an actual picture of the fakes. Odd pins should be short pins but they are long and on the first row.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
The odd pins are the long ones. Just as the LM3886. If you post a picture of the back of the chip, we might be able to tell real from fake by the shape of the metal on the back.
Either way, you're not going to find an LM4780 at any of the distributors. It was discontinued by TI 2-3 years ago.

Hi, if you are still looking for LM4780, I have some (12 actually) left over from a project. They were ordered directly from Farnell, and are still in sealed bags.
Send me a PM if you want...

All stock is 0 with the exception of evaluation boards.🙁
To the best of my knowledge, the LM4780 was discontinued along with National Semiconductor years ago and no longer available. It will not show up on a search at TI.

I have 15 of these in a tube if a member in Aus / NZ is interested. Postage to other parts of the world could be considered.
They were obtained as samples from National 10 years ago.
PM me for pictures if interested.
