Good pictures - please load up here, because photobucket delete them anywhere.
Now a question: currently versions from Alps (RH2701, RK27112 etc.) use at the shaft for fixing not a part in the kind as to see in the first picture (btw - what is the naming therefore?).
Instead this the part looks like in the attached image (see also about
Alps Potentiometer
and go to the third picture)
and thus I must destroy and replace it through a new part in cases for disassembly.
From where I can order this part to put on the shaft before assembly, what is the english naming and which tool therefore I should use?

I did try with alps and noble and one the 23 step attenuator from Korea is better. check these pictures of it. They are very well build and accurate and the best is the price $ 25 each approximate.

Please let me know the manufacturer for download datasheet of this rotary switch - thank you.

Look, this is your point I'm asking about. I don't know why you would make one and then refuse to explain it when asked.

To me, "the best" is in reference to the resultant sound quality, and I'm not familiar with any "sound quality" metrics that you can find in a data sheet. Maybe you could specify what to look for?

Here's another of the TA-E88B attenuator (took this around 9-10 yrs back - there are others of its guts in the folder - it has all kinds of innovations, such as bulk film resistors etc. No expense spared. THD spec met Sony's paper spec to the 1/100 point. Marred by ripple...got rid of it before I figured out whether it was the pair of EI transformers or regulation that caused said ripple)

This Sony/ALPS attenuator is a masterpiece.

I have just installed one piece of the ubiquitous Chinese rotary switch that can be buy everywhere on the Internet to replace a broken stepped ladder volume control.

I have two type of this kind of Chinese item - one I have bought through an E-Bay vendor, and the other from this site : Bargain Ex-military Attenuators 23-Position, 2 Channel (Stereo) – DIY Hifi Supply

Though the "ex-military" claim is obviously ********, I'd like to point out that, apart from having gold plated leads (I have not yet opened one piece to see if it's also gold plated on the inside), the second variation is softer to turn, as it requires less force. As such, this variant is more comfortable to use as a volume control, especially with a not very wide button.

I also like to share a very convenient online calculator that automatically generates a spreadsheet of the resistor values for up to 24 positions ladder attenuator : Stepped Attenuator Resistor String Calculator - Neville Roberts
