As I've said before: Music is all about emotion and has little to do with perfection, just my opinion.
Hans
I certainly agree with music being about emotion.
Accurate playback is a seperate thing IMO.
No, you dont need an accurate system to enjoy music.
Speaking for myself and maybe 2 others here, I enjoy having both.

Clearly 🙄 Must be beyond me.
That reminds me, can you explain Jn's idea please? The reason I ask is you mention it potentially being progress, you might be able to clarify it a bit?

I cant say it any clearer than JN has. He did a masterful job IMO. You have to look at the phase as well and what it does in his test.
I am sure there are more aspects we have not delved deeply into, as well.
But, for myself, its all over but the shouting. I haven't listened to CD for a long time now. Not when I hear something better.

Ok, Scott last mentioned there are things that still confuse him, so I'm guessing the explanations so far lack clarity.I cant say it any clearer than JN has. He did as masterful job IMO.
I just want to do something else... I gave my input and I dont listen to LP any more nor CD, so it isnt all that interesting to me now. Only, if the internet goes away and CD replaced it, then it would be interesting to see what else could be done to improve it. Some how, I dont see that ever happening. IMO, its about as good as it will ever be.
The weak link for the future is the available CD transport mechanism. The remaining ones being build arent that great any more.

😕😉
An ironic thing about the Grammys is that many of those voting probably listen to MP3's driving around in their $200,000 cars.
I’ve got hundreds (if not over a thousand) cd’s that haven’t been touched since doing a comparison between physical cd playback and streaming of the same recordings.
Hi Res streaming sq came out on top in each of my comparisons. There’s a wider range of choices at your fingertips, it’s so much cheaper too.....download it if you want to ‘own’ it.
I can’t see any downfalls unless someone is just super adverse to change?

I play CDs in the kitchen, car and bedroom. Other than that mainly off the server. Main rig doesn't have a CD player per se. Need to get a bigger HDD for the server as over 3TB of music stored on it now. Mostly 44.1/16 as I have yet to hear a difference worth paying double for it.

Time has come to finish your MC preamp, that will bring all the joy and more. 😀 😀

Probably; what about the best engineered award?

You mean the ones that think Terry Riley is classical music? Don't get me wrong I am a fan.
Terrence Mitchell Riley is an American composer and performing musician best known as a pioneer of the minimalist school of composition. Influenced by jazz and Indian classical music, his music became notable for its innovative use of repetition, tape music techniques, and delay systems.

Yes I know. Hoping for some hours on that over the weekend.

I think I have 4 different versions of 'Riley in C' and all are wonderfully different.

All mics used as old or older than me! and KoJ still uses the PM converter as well. Job for this weeekend is to finally run it through the HDCD decoder and have a listen. Sounded pretty good when not decoded. And I know that 3 guys playing blues together live on a soundstage isn't for everyone.

AFAIC the primamry purpose of a hifi is to convey the emotion in the music to the human being listening.

Same here. It does have a TT. Not oft used.
