I’ve been living with my pair of ACA mono blocs for about 6 months and am VERY happy, I have parts ordered for another pair. I figure 4 quad 57s and four mono blocs has a certain symmetry.
What do folks suggest my next project be? This DIY audio is a bit addictive.
P.s. I have a pair if diy electrostatics started too.....but that is a different thread!

Will the layout of new VFET PCB be compliant with DiyAudio store Deluxe chassis mounting holes and +- 22-24 VDC supply? ....or at least +22-24 VDC if it is a single ended "beast"?
Do we know formfactor of VFET? .....TO-3 or something "modern"?
TO-3 is not that compatible with DiyAudio store "standard"? 🙂
I am building M2X monoblocks in the moment using Deluxe chassis......so I was thinking....."what if".....

Patience is rare virtue for a typical greedy boy.😀
Can we get at least hint do we need to prepare one or two VFETs per channel? Stocks are low for some interesting „industrial workhorse“ parts. If those are indeed the ones to be used (hints are welcome 🙂) in the mentioned future projects, then price will skyrocket. Better to secure critical parts on time if possible.

Looks good!
Even that I am close to finish M2X mono block project…….this one seems a new "must build" project.

VFET projects will be on bars that hold 8 TO-3 transistors and fit the
standard heat sink mounting pattern offered by the store.
Super news! I'll take 4 channel's worth! When will this one come up for sale?

If I could buy you a beer I would. Thanks for being so generous
I've completed the ACA monoblocks, too. I've been thinking about my next project.VFET projects will be on bars that hold 8 TO-3 transistors and fit the

Thanks, Papa. I'm in on the next VFET adventure.
More DIY VFETs are coming soon.
That's the best news I've had all month!

Found another manufacturer to make transistors? Supply is otherwise fairly depleted, except for hi-Ciss types like 2SK182ES. And frankly at US$50 a piece I'm not keen on those either.
whenever you think of that , just take a look at Toob Boyz and their determination
if you like it , you're able to take everything in account and realize how great price/value ratio is with these amps ...... or - even better you just don't care for that ratio and you enjoy
if you can't see that , buy second hand Bose .... less hassle , great fun

Toob Boyz live in the past. The last valve amp I made was in 1968 and it used 807's, thus the avatar.
My problem is that SIT amps are so rare here that it's impossible to both view one and hear one at the same time, much like the legendary Saint Sixtus beer made in Belgium, which you cannot both view and drink at the same time. Of course it's all my fault for living in Australia, but essentially this means that I have no idea whether it's worth the effort. And if I'm going to spend that sort of cash I want something that can produce more than 10kHz, which is about the limit for SITs with a Ciss of 2,500 pF. Hell, I can design 35W class A (DTS) J-FET power amps that go to 100kHz and have 90dB s/n with no negative feedback so it would have to beat that.
Bose? Erm ... I heard a Bose system once in the 70's and wasn't impressed at all. The vagueness of instrument positioning detracted from what was otherwise a relatively nice sound. It probably has a use in public spaces like shop audio, but not for hi-fi listening at home.
