Hi guys,
It’s not really a direct scale down of the LS. It’s a 0.67 scale down but with some dimensional changes cause he added the wedge at the the corners of the box. I’ve verified some measurements against the LS.

assuming no big changes - it should behave about the same.
IF you could stand tall and skinny - 0.83X31.5" ! 26 inches tall - not much more than a foot wide. *RCA-Fan's D120 horn at 0.83X)
real horn might behave different - -Bill rebuilt this one a bit different - but was not satisfied. (it still looked pretty good by my standards 😀)
I think this type behaves somewhere between the offset and end driven model.
In a corner it does 130dB (28.3v) down to 80Hz w/o exceeding xmax

Would be nice if I can find some vintage 10 inch deep cone paper woofers that has similar specs. There’s something about their tone in horn boxes.
Thank you again
Electrovoice EVM 10L, Fs=65Hz, Qes=0.175, Qms=5.8, Qts=0.17.
So 2*Fs/Qes=743Hz.
Yep, guitar driver, good call
; I had the Altec ER-10 'on the brain', but is pretty rare these days and had totally forgotten about its EV variant. 🙁

The filter slot in the drawing looks about 8.6 x 2 inches, this downsized from the origional 13 x 3 factory size. If you are really sawing wood, try a 8.6 x 4 inch filter.
With horns larger is better, why not build a 2 x 15 inch woofer version? With appropriate drivers a 110dB/watt mid-bass horn.

- really like the look of that double 15 W - bin and assume one per side for stereo would be fun. EV 10L/M seem scarce. B&C's 10FW64 has fairly low (but higher) qes than 10L with more xmax as tradeoff. I could use some input on another Karlson box - whether to add a stub, picking cavity depth, etc. Glyph - do you have a good handle on K traits? Any cool horn which isn't huge (has to be shipped from a builder 2K miles away) would be highly welcomed too. I have FH1 (like to get rid of them to make room for other toys), Sentry IV bottom, 0.7 scale "Classic".
been up for nearly 24hr w. little sleep - so can't see well

Why didn't you just copy the file into the export folder, then post as an attachment? Super quick/easy and saves us the hassle of converting to a .txt file, etc..

Hi Gents,
Thank you all for the wonderful advice & tutorial.
Wow the EVM 10L sure looks good spec wise.
In the mean time I think I found a better woofer the Delta 10a.
Here it is : OPEN BOX B&C 10FW64 10" Professional Woofer 8 Ohm
Cheers

I apologize GM - sorry - don't know where to store folders - just pictures at Imgur. 10FW is a feisty looking driver - like a somewhat higher qes version of a 10M with higher stated xmax.
Hi Freddi am awaiting to find out how much is the shipping cost.
Well it’s on sale & only about $10 more then the Delta 10a.
Should be worth trying out you think ? Lol
Thanks again

re:600 - don't know if a scaled down Thunderbolt could get that high -
scale this drawing using the 15" speaker frame for reference
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

for fun Delta 10a in the little 0.66 La Scala vs a 0.7 size Thunderbolt - like a trumpet vs a tuba
(I cut the LS back chamber size down to flatten ts passband)

Thanks Freddi for taking the time to simulate.
Couldn't wait so I bought the B&C 10FW64. Lol
Slightly OT question, I've got an JBL 2432H 1.5 throat but my horns throat is only 1.4 inch, question can just mount directly or do I need machine lathe to open the horns throat to 1.5 inch as well.
Thank you again
The Bec curve do look nice & flat.

I'm trying to figure out a Karlson for 10FW64 and have been looking at it for several years
here's the 0.66 scale La Scala with 10FW64 with back chamber sealed vs vented

FWIW I've recommended/used an inexpensive variable speed hand drill, 3 stone brake system master cylinder honing tool to do this or can make a thin metal gasket with a hole that's ~[1.4*1.5]^0.5 in diameter as a stepped taper that's only going to be an issue way up high where our hearing acuity either is very poor and/or can't hear that high [>20 kHz].

btw, two 10FW64 in William Cowan's 2-10" bass horn look pretty good in corner sim. I wonder if his assumption of a corner's mouth extension could be used with other simulation ?
60 Hz horn for a 10" driver it's rather large though 😉 DIY 60 hz crescent horn - The Paper Horn by Inlow Sound
